"An American Horror Story" is the result of my Education 353 (Technology in the classroom) assignment interwoven with my fascination of American History. Our EDUC 353 assignment prompted us to create a digital story which is a story conveyed in a digital format that uses the following elements: video, music, narration, images, and text.  I decided to convey the infamous American history X story (I’m not talking about the 1998 movie), and since I am not an eloquent poetic writer I decided to borrow the lyrics from a genius writer named Lupe Fiasco from his song “Unforgivable Youth”. Fiasco’s lyrics convey the profound pain that many marginalized groups in America experienced, and still experience as a result of America’s rise as a powerful nation. I used this project merely to illustrate these captivating words based on my interpretation of the lyrics.

What makes this video great is that it is open to interpretation. My interpretation of the lyrics is implied with the certain text and images I used. However, I welcome any interpretations because my end goal is to provide a platform to encourage a dialogue surrounding these flaws within our American history and its implications.

This project/video is the result of hours and passionate dedication to completing it, and I feel honored to say that I dedicate this project/video to the one group whom has experienced a series of misfortunes from the day America’s origin steeped off the boat and walked on this beautiful enriched land: the Native-Americans.

*For Teachers*
*I allow this video to be used for any educational purposes*
This video/project can be used to demonstrate to students that they can use their History knowledge and create a creative meaningful project like this video. This can also be used to encourage a dialogue among your students to interpret the images/texts/narration in its historical context in order to prompt a thoughtful dialogue surrounding these social justice issues in the U.S.

*If you do decide to use this in your classroom please inform me because I would love to know how the students reacted to it.* You can find my contact information in the “Contact” section.

*I encourage any inquires, concerns, suggestions, and comments in the comment section below*
